The Big Reveal: Panda for Desiigner

One of the best parts about creating custom artwork for clients is witnessing their reaction at the moment they receive the piece. Although I could not be present in Desiigner's New York studio, my dear friend captured the moment in which the packaged Panda was greeted with a..."DAMN!" The hip hop artist was astonished and failed to believe the original 19" x 24" framed drawing was made with color pencils on paper. I truly appreciate his admiration and look forward to working on more art in the future.

Here is the video as posted on @lifeofdesiigner's Instagram story.

Piña Colada in Paradise

I recently had the pleasure to collaborate with leading Miami firm, KIS Interior Design, to recreate one of my bull pieces, Piña Colada. Glowing in the dining area, the piece brings a tropical allure that relates to living on the Florida coast. It was produced on an illuminating plexiglass for a contemporary aesthetic that brought more light into the space. It perfectly ties into the overall design of the apartment, where you can view more images on KIS Interior Design's Houzz profile

Written in the Stars

"I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream".   -Vincent Van Gogh

No. 3 of my parallel series to Running of the Bulls taps into my fascination with the wonders and eternal beauty of stars. Written in the Stars tells the story of my passionate quest in search of my true calling in life by connecting the my past, present, and dreams of the future. Life is composed of a series of moments, determined by fate and altered by our actions. The relationships we hold with others further intertwine these webs of moments and propel us further into this journey of life. Day by day, we reach towards the stars, connecting points until we have created our own constellation of success.

Written in the Stars was composed using a variety of acrylic and spray paints to achieve an expressive and textured piece. A deep and energetic backdrop was created with layer upon layer of blue hues, glossy black splatters, and iridescent accents. Each point of stark white paint represents stars, the moments in life which are connected with the world around us. Finally, the bull skull is a representation of me....all of us...fighters for dreams and lovers of life. The skull was rendered with layers of rose gold, yellow gold, and glowing neon pink spray paints to resemble the glittering images of galaxies. Contrastingly, It pushes against the canvas edges attempting to break free from physical limits. These limits are the ones that we choose to place on ourselves, for life is meant to be pursued as freely and vast as the universe itself.

Alter Ego

Upon my move back to Miami from Madrid, I not only experienced external changes around me, but also very incredible internal ones. My days were spent reflecting upon everything life has to offer; upon the endless possibilities and how vast this world really is. In this reflection, I realized how dynamic we as human beings are, and how we have the power to change our destiny.

Alter Ego, is a piece unique from everything I created. It was inspired by a graffiti painting I made in Madrid, but with more layers, textures, depth, and personality. It is less sweet and more edgy. It reflects a side of me rarely demonstrated to the public: my affinity for rock n roll, passion for adventure, quench for wilderness, and beautiful nonconformity. This painting was created with an "unfinished" black acrylic background, webbed-textured spray paint, white splatters, and a rose-gold bull with metallic drips. Alter Ego is my pursuit for breaking the right  rules with ultimate style and sophistication.
