Alter Ego

Upon my move back to Miami from Madrid, I not only experienced external changes around me, but also very incredible internal ones. My days were spent reflecting upon everything life has to offer; upon the endless possibilities and how vast this world really is. In this reflection, I realized how dynamic we as human beings are, and how we have the power to change our destiny.

Alter Ego, is a piece unique from everything I created. It was inspired by a graffiti painting I made in Madrid, but with more layers, textures, depth, and personality. It is less sweet and more edgy. It reflects a side of me rarely demonstrated to the public: my affinity for rock n roll, passion for adventure, quench for wilderness, and beautiful nonconformity. This painting was created with an "unfinished" black acrylic background, webbed-textured spray paint, white splatters, and a rose-gold bull with metallic drips. Alter Ego is my pursuit for breaking the right  rules with ultimate style and sophistication.

Midweek Muse: Yrjo Edelmann

Today I am pleased to share the work of an artist that truly blows my mind. At first glance, the images translate as photographs of iridescent paper, imperfectly wrapped and held with masking tape.

The shocking truth is that these pieces are two-dimensional, oil paintings on canvas by Swedish artist, Yrjo Edelmann (1941-2016). Edelmann achieved great success through out his artistic career and was considered a "great illusionist amidst the Swedish contemporary art world."

Johan Persson of Galleri GKM magnificently states, Yrjo Edelmann's pictures are frequently located in the territory between dream and experience, in a vacuum where the eye wanders through a labrynth of almost infinite proportions

I am amazed not only by the hyper-realism achieved by oil paints, but also by the incredible tension, depth, irregularity of shapes, and reflection of light in these compositions. Edelmann exquisitely achieved the fusion between traditional painting techniques and the innovation of contemporary art. These pieces would make the perfect "gift" for my walls with their chic tones and "ready to open" appeal.

For more information about the artist, please visit the Craighead Green Gallery that represents his work.

La Peccata Minuta | Nudist Song Illustration

Nudist Song: La Respuesta al Zapato Perfecto

Above is the illustration I created for La Peccata Minuta of the Nudist Sandal by Stuart Weitzman. Maria Conchita Arcala, author and creator of La Peccata Minuta, held a discussion with her audience wether they prefer to invest in a statement piece, such as a Charlotte Olympia style, or something more simple, such as the Nudist by Stuart Weitzman. The majority explained that they rather spend the mullah on a simple, versatile, and more comfortable piece.

The article, Nudist Song: La Respuesta al Zapato Perfecto (The Answer to the Perfect Heel) goes into detail on the factors that make a pair such as the Nudist Song so desirable amongst celebrities and its fans. Apart from its clean lines and assortment of available materials, the Nudist heel is indeed comfortable for long wear and flattering on all types of feet. In conclusion, this simple pair checks off all the boxes and is well worth the investment.

Latin for Glory x WeWoreWhat

Bull No. 6 in collaboration with Danielle Bernstein of WeWoreWhat is now complete.

Together, we worked on designing a bull that reflected Danielle's edgy fashion style along with our shared love for plants, specifically cacti and succulents. The bull sits on a bed of vivid plants, none two alike. As a way to incorporate our passion for interior design, the bull skull was rendered as white marble with jute ropes adorning the horns.

I documented the entire process and shared it through Instagram and Facebook, demonstrating how a garden slowly comes to life. Each plant was crafted with immense attention to detail and thorough color studies.

The original piece will be on display in Danielle's 'rock n roll chic' New York City apartment. Prints will be available on my website soon! If you would like to be notified first, please subscribe on my webpage below.

Sophia Webster #PimpMyChiara Challenge

As a thank you to reaching a milestone of 500,000 followers on Instagram, Sophia Webster launched the #PimpMyChiara challenge for her fans. By simply using the provided sketch of the popular Chiara heel, which features a pair of butterfly wings, you could transform it into the shoe of your dreams. Below are three entries I created, each one with its own personality and story.

Chiara No. 1 reflected my personal style with the blue and white porcelain motif commonly seen in my illustrations and artwork. The pattern on the toe band mimics the movement of the ocean, mean while the flowers on the wing directly relate to a butterfly's surroundings.

Chiara No. 2 was inspired by Sophia Webster's playful designs and signature style of mixing vibrant colors, bold prints, and chic silhouettes. The palette I used includes orchid purple, candy apple red, and valentine pink. I paired these colors with a black and white striped pattern and "caviar" black pearl studs.

Lastly, Chiara No. 3 alludes to the beauty and sultry nature of the fall. One of my favorite trends this season, is the incorporation of fur and the pom pom on everything! This decadent style decorates the Chiara with a multi-color faux fur toe strap, mulberry patent details, and oil slick leather wings with a matte charcoal lining. This one is bound to be a jaw dropper.

The winner will be announced on the 20th of November. Wish me luck!
